Safe Browsing

IMPORTANT: It is impossible to completely hide your web browsing. The safest way to find information on the Internet is to do it in a safe place such as the local library, a friend’s house, or at work.

Most up to date web browsers offer an option to browse the internet in an anonymous or private window. This means that no information – cookies, temporary Internet files, history, or other data will be collected or stored on your computer while in that window. (Make sure your web browser is up-to-date!)

Internet Explorer: open a new tab. In the main body of the page, you should see an option to “Open an InPrivate Browsing window.” (Microsoft InPrivate Browsing)

Firefox: Click on Tools, choose “Start Private Browsing.” (Firefox Private Browsing)

Chrome: Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar, then select “New incognito window.” (Chrome Incognito Window)
