Message from the Director

I cannot believe that it has been four years.  Thanks for supporting Family Refuge Center on this journey.  As we enter our 40th year, we enter a new chapter.  Kenosha Davenport, our Executive Director is passing the torch. Our board has appointed Stefani Keys and Laura Martin to serve as our Co-Acting Executive Directors during their search for our next executive director.

The leadership that Kenosha has provided during her tenure will be missed, however, we are all excited about our future. We cannot thank Kenosha enough for the many accomplishments she has overseen.

Here are some updates that we are currently working on:

  • We are undergoing a long-term renovation project at the Anne Blair House Emergency Shelter.  We have completed our Senior Dorm renovations.  In the next few months, we will begin our kitchen renovations.  The goal is to completely redo the kitchen so that it is ADA compliant and accessible.
  • Launching our H.O. M. E. S. program, our response to homelessness and survivors who flee their homes with nowhere to go.
  • For the first time ever, our budget has surpassed $1.3 million.
  • Hired a VOCA Trauma Therapist. We are now offering individual counseling for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, stalking, or harassment.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with some many community partners.

Sincerely,
Kenosha Davenport
Executive Director
